And now we have trainers

As detailed on my previous entry phase two of my quest for fitness is the Flora London Marathon of 2007 for which I have received a place through the long standing ballot system.

Last week I visited the Flora Marathon store in London and went thorough the rigorous process of purchasing some new trainers.

Gone are the days when you simply choose the make and color you like.

Well having bent, stretched and wandered around the shop in bare feet and then participated in feet pressure tests on their machines I am now the proud owner of apparently the perfect trainers for me!!

So come the new year I could be pounding (literally) the streets near you.

Scott of the Arctic

And so the journey begins here

It is my sincere hope that this blog will chart the process from desk bound I.T. specialist to Arctic adventurer detailing the highs and i am sure lows of the entire process.

When Phil Jeffs ( the crazy musher ) offered me the chance of a lifetime it is fair to say that I stumbled rather than jumped at the chance, however he told me this really would be the trip of a lifetime. As time goes by and with departure looming it is apparent that much training and dedication is needed before i can enjoy rather than suffer the whole experience.

My friends believe that my participation is a confirmation of the fact that i am a little eccentric but i hope to share the whole process including the journey with you.

As a follow up I have also been accepted for the 2007 Flora London marathon so there will follow a continuation of the training for that event also with the sponsorship for both contributing to the Scott polar research institutes funding.....
